Hyderabad Blast: 'Multiple Deaths'

Written By Unknown on Kamis, 21 Februari 2013 | 22.56

At least 15 people are reported to have been killed and dozens others are missing after three blasts in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad.

The blasts were about 10 minutes apart and took place in the early evening - the first going off just after 7pm local time.

The blasts occurred outside near a cafe, a cinema and a bus station in the busy area of Dilsukh Nagar.

Dozens have been rushed to hospital with injuries, a police spokesman said.

Another unexploded device is being investigated, Sky News' Alex Rossi said.

Police say they are trying to discover the cause of the explosions.

Hyderbad is India's fourth most populous city with a population of 6.8 million people.

Several other cities in India have been put on high alert.

Police are working on the theory that the explosions are "the work of a professional terror group".

The last major bomb attack in India was a September 2011 blast outside the high court in New Delhi that killed 13 people.
