The body of a missing Russian politician has been found inside a cement-filled barrel in a cellar near Moscow, police said.
Mikhail Pakhomov, 37, a city councillor in Lipetsk, central Russia, disappeared on February 12.
Detectives immediately opened an investigation into his murder.
"The body of Mikhail Pakhomov, a lawmaker from Lipetsk city council, has been found in one of the cellars of a private garage in a metal barrel filled with cement," the investigative committee said in a statement.
"Investigators have gathered enough evidence to establish the violent nature of Pakhomov's death."
Eleven people have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and/or murder, including a 40-year-old man from Moscow described by police as the suspected mastermind.
The former deputy minister of housing services for the Moscow region, Yevgeny Kharitonov, was charged on Sunday with ordering Pakhomov's kidnapping before his body was found.
No motive has yet been found for what police are calling a suspected contract killing.
