Barack Obama has questioned what Russian-backed rebels "are trying to hide" at the Malaysian Airline Flight MH17 crash site in eastern Ukraine.
The president said separatists who control the area must permit investigators "immediate and full access" to the site.
The removal of bodies by separatists "armed and trained by Russia" begs the question: "What exactly are they trying to hide?" Mr Obama said from the White House on Monday.
He said: "We have to make sure the truth is out and accountability exists."
Moscow "will only further isolate itself" and the economic costs will continue to increase if Russia continues to violate Ukraine's sovereignty, he added.
